So we just celebrated our first month, and I can honestly say, marriage is so fun. I have had so much fun and am getting used to using the words, "my husband". So it was a whirlwind December for us and looking back now, I don't even know where the month went. A lot has happened in the last month, so this entry will be kind of long...sorry...
The wedding was so amazing and turned out beyond my own expectations. You know if you would have told me 5 years ago that I was going to have a smallish wedding on the beach in Mexico, I would have thought you had lost your mind. Me, smallish wedding...far away from planning...limited control over the details...NEVER. But oh man, I can't even begin to express what a wonderful decision it was, and I now believe I should work for the destination weddings organization so I can spread the word of the wonderment that is destination weddings. I guess I can't really speak for other locations...but Mexico and the Azul rocked my freakin face off. I was amazed beyond belief at how amazing the staff was there and how they managed to make everything so perfect and exactly what I wanted. I mean a drugged out donkey with beer...seriously incredible. And the best part of it all was having so many people I loved and cared about there. It is so fun that everyone from Jay's side got to know my peeps, especially our families. I remember sitting on a lawn chair on Friday afternoon at the pool, and looking around and having this moment of...oh my goodness, I love everyone at this pool, and they are all here to celebrate Jay and my wedding. They all came all this way for us...(and the all-inclusive bar and food helped a little too). It was one of those moments that I will remember forever. Oh and my husband playing pool golf in the green tube..greatness. I have looked back at the pictures (only like 2 times a day) and just remember how great it was and what an incredible time I had...I think anyone could tell based on my jumping around the floor (slightly embarrassing to look back on...but hey brides can do that right?) (see pic as example below) And then the DJ brings out balloons and glow necklaces..seriously?? This place rocks.

Having so much time with everyone was also wonderful. Living so far away from most of the people there, it was great to have time to really hang out and catch up.
So... as you can tell I loved my wedding. I think everyone had an amazing time and we want to start planning Jash Bash 2010. We did get our pictures from the awesome photographer Javier...whom we loved and I think he loved our party too. He did a great job (besides almost falling into the pool with the camera). I have attached a link to a slide show of some pics (he sent like 1020 pics..so i will spare you and only post a couple)
After the wedding, Jay and I came back to work for a few days...not the most productive of days at work I have to say. We then headed off to Antigua for an 8 day honeymoon. It was amazing. Upon arrival, Jay and I were slightly taken aback because the Sandals is very different from the Azul...no swim out rooms...no 24 hr room service (maybe for the better), more tropical and less modern, and no Javier and Juan...but after adjusting to the new place we just fell in love with it. We met some amazing people...Sara and Colin-super fun Navy Pilots- that were getting ready to move to Japan for a couple of years. They were so much fun, and I think Jay was so jealous of their job... In fact I thought for a little while he might sneak into their luggage and fly with them to Japan just to listen to them talk more about their career. It was so fun to meet people on vacation and learn about different places and lifestyles (oh and also fun to drink tons of wine with them and sing around a piano..awesome) They left the day after we met them, so that was sad for us. We did find a few other people to hang out with. One Italian couple from NY and one couple from Canada. Great times with everyone and thank goodness for facebook because we can continue to keep in touch.
We had a blast in Antigua and while it was hard to come back to reality, we were kind of ready to come home after 8 days...or I should say..our bodies were ready for us to come home. We had to go through serious all-inclusive detox...no mimosas at 10, pina coladas at noon, beer at 2 and wine all night...oh and food ALL day! It was great, but man I am still working off that wedding/honeymoon fun. I think it took us about a week to really get adjusted back into the swing of things...actually maybe more like a month, because I am actually now finally feeling slightly adjusted back. It has been weird not having any wedding details to worry about, or trips to plan. Really enjoyable actually. I have been keeping busy reading (I have joined a book club thanks to Jay's cousin Mason-thanks Mas). The first book was a 500 pager, so I was feverishly reading for a couple of weeks. Jay was so glad to have me finally finish the book. I would take it everywhere..to the mall, grocery store. Jay frequently was heard saying something like, "seriously...we are just going 10 miles", but you know..10 miles in Boston is like 30 minutes..and that could be like 10 pages.! I managed to get it done, and now onto the next one. thankfully this one is only like 200 pages.
We have been enjoying having some free weekends to just relax, drive around, run errands, officially change my name, get a new license and combine bank accounts. Guess it is now really official..I am a Mitchell! We did head down to Texas two weeks ago. My college friends and I were throwing one of my good friends, Lisa a shower last weekend, but since I couldn't take much more time off, I wouldn't be able to make it, so Jay suggested we head down for a quick trip over the MLK weekend. It was a great weekend and I got to see tons of people. There were a few that I missed, but I plan on getting back soon to see the rest. Lisa and Adam drove in from the Falls to surprise me, and boy did it! I think I was shaking for 30 minutes. I realize it was a slightly unusual overreaction, but I think it was the combination of just seeing all the people that I miss so much, and fact that she is prego with triplets and was going to be in Dallas for the following two weekends and still drove down to see us. I was just touched. I love living in Boston...but man I miss my friends so much!
So...that is pretty much were we are now! Jay started school back last week, and is going two nights a week. That is really hard for me...ok guess it is really hard for him..maybe harder I guess :) But I just hate him having to go from work to school and be out so late. I have decided that instead of pouting at home, I was going to look into some continuing education classes here in Boston. They have sooo many different things you can do..cooking, crafting, sewing..wine tasting..etc. I have time now to do things like that, so I need to seize the moment and just do it! Might get in the way of my TV watching, but I guess that is why God invented DVR, right? I am also going to try and get better at this blogging thing. It is pretty fun and kind of therapeutic to just sit and type. Sorry if I ramble....i know Jay is going to kill me for writing so much..and I am sure my comas are in the wrong place and my grammar is all wrong...but this is not a psych report nor am I a presidential speech writer (day after the state of the union, so that was the first thing that came to mind) . I am going to try and keep it updated with even the silly mundane things, cause I think those can sometime be the most interesting.
So I have attached some pics of our 1 month dinner date at a fantastic new find of ours. It is a Venezuelan restaurant...tiny..and DELICIOUS! So anyone that comes to visit, may get a stop at this restaurant. And please come visit! I would LOVE VISITORS!
